2 1/4 for 1/2?

So I was talking to a audio electronics expert of 30+ years, and said the best way to record on a 1/2 unit is to stack 2 1/4 on top of each other. ???? Does this work?! Has anyone ever heard of this?

Arrow You just had your leg severely pulled!

When you got that quizical look on your face, and said, "umm,... yeah,... okay!"... then walked out,...

he probably almost shit himself laughing! That's what 30+ years in electronics does to your sense of humor!!

PS: I'm still trying to figure out if I bought (6) 4-track Portastudios, will I have a 24-track? Ask your friend that!

this will only work if you suspend them from a skyhook...but the skyhook needs to be painted with 2 coats of tartan paint to be most effective.

heh heh ...funny stuff
Why not? It's like cut/save tracks of let's say "top"-eight tracks... "paste" them on the shelf.... replace with blank 1/4 tape - record new tracks. So this way you get 'unlimited' amount of virtual tracks... well, limited by amount of rolls you've got and size of the shelf

Two 1/4" heads stacked and staggered. Other than that I have no idea what he would be talking about. Did his breath have the odor of an alcoholic beverage, perhaps?
