The second clip definitely sounds better, but I'm not really digging the snare sound. The kick sounds pretty good; the toms are ok. There is something a little bit weird about it, but I can't place it.

Your playing is pretty tight but I'm not a huge fan of that snare like everyone else said. Could be a bad snare, and thats just the sound but it also sounds like your micing it pointing to much towards the edge of the snare instead of the center. Get more of the crack then that hi sound... actually it just sounds weird. The overheads are sounding a bit drony to me, but I like that really crisp drum sound. How are you micing this and in what room?

small somewhat treated room.
the snare i miced as if it was being miked with a 57...i mean i cant get any more specific than that.

its a piece of shit groove percussion drumset
one lug on the bottom snare broke off..so its me attempting to make a good sound out of what's left because if I leave it to where the normal snare tuning is, it would sound ... id rather not talk about it.

Drum lugs are cheap! Go get a new one!

Are you muffling the snare with anything? It sounds really muted. I love the effect you have on the toms. What is it?

Oh, you bought it at Scam Cash? (I can't take credit for that one. I read it in the mic forum.)

They make replacements for those as well. I think Gibralter makes them.
