HELP PLEASE< SETTING UP MY STUDIO

okay this is my equipment, im not looking for anything like super professional but this is what i got:

Laptop computer with cool edit pro
Soundcard with line in/headphone/mic etc...
6 channel mixer
Condensor mic

So i got all the equipment i just dont know how to hook it up, im getting sound from the mic into the headphones but i need to know how to record directly on to cool edit threw the mic and to be able to hear the beat/instrumental in the headphones

I am only recording vocals! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP I AM A BEGGINER

Unless you're game for a digital laptop soundcard (which I would recommend if you want to record that way), your best bet is connecting your line in on your soundcard to your mixer, then go from your mixer to mic (if it has a built in preamp). If there's no preamp then you'll need one or the signal won't be strong enough to get recorded by cool edit.

You may want to invest about $150 and buy something like this...

It'd help you out a lot since you'd have a pre amp and usb power for it.
