Wuhans are very hit or miss. I have alot of China's that I love. I have a 16" S-series crash that is darn good, 2 12" splashes that are awesome and 3 10" spalshes that range from wonderful to pathetic.
The worst Wuhans are the hi-hats! They are all white noise, the edges don't line up/aren't flat, and they are FREAKISHLY LOUD!!!

Neil Peart has always used a Wuhan as one of his further away chinas, and still does even though he now has his signature Paragon Series by Sabian including 2 different chinas.
I used to have a 16" Wuhan china and it was an OK effect, I just never ended up using it much because I already have two other chinas mounted. Then for some reason, now I have a 21" china, but the same thing applies to this one as the previous one...I don't use it much. I guess I just bought them because they're so damn cheap! The 16" was like 40$ CDN. They have a very trashy, short decay so they're good for quick biting accents, but you have to give them a pretty good smack to get a loud enough desired sound out of them.

Man, i have 4 china's (RUDE 18", 2002 20", 2002 Novo 18" and 20" Wuhan) and it's a safe bet the Wuhan is the worst of the lot in terms of quality. Wuhan basically is a very cheap solution with enough venom to make an impact, as long as you have other cymbals backed up as an antidote.

Good point Wade! To tell the truth, all my Wuhans sound a little funny to me when I'm at the throne. But all the audience hears is white noise and attack. Same thing when I record. The Wuhan Chinas do there job quite well. The new Euro style cymbals get real iffy...

I have Wuhan hats, a 16" crash and 20" ride for my second kit. The hats sound great, the crash is heavy and you really have to nail it to get a decent sound from it, The ride is a little washy but can be controlled and sounds good IMO. For $135 bucks for all four cymbals I couldn't be happier. Yeck, I have had and still have various top line Zilds and Paiste's that cost twice as much per than all four Wuhans combined that sounded/sound much worse. It's hit and miss with any cymbals.
