Jack plate dimensions anyone?

I need the dimensions of a football style jack plate if anyone has one. I bought the square Les Paul style jack plate for a Tele style guitar I'm putting together and because the edges are curved the plate hangs over the edge. I would rather not get the Tele style cup jack, but if the football style doesn't fit guess I won't have any choice. Thanks for the help.

A football plate should work fine. They are 1" high by 1 7/8" long. The hole for them needs to be 7/8" though, so it is a tight fit.

Thanks Light, that does sound like it will work. I had a problem with the neck plate also because I didn't realize the back of the guitar had such a contour that the plate hung over the edges. Had to get neck ferrules which weren't easy to find.
