ASCAP vs BMI

Hello,
New to the board and was just wondering who here is registered with either ASCAP or BMI? From your perspective --- which do you prefer and are there any advantages to choosing one over the other as an indie artist/songwriter?

Thank you!

I'm with BMI. Why? Because the first artist who ever wanted to record one of my songs was affiliated with them, thought they were best, and recommended I join them. They've done okay by me but I have friends who are with ASCAP and think they're just fine.

In the past, BMI was definitely more friendly to the semi-pro/beginning song writer than ASCAP. I don't know if that's still true.

All are fine IF you're in one of their Pay Cliques ....

ASCAP, BMI, SESAC ..... here in the US one is as good as the other, IF you're in their respective Pay Cliques. The "pittance" Clique will get you drops and dribbles; the "KJ" Clique will get you tons of money whether you're earning it or not; and not in either of the above will get you NOTHING regardless of air play or other public performance.

Take your choice.
