I can't hear myself
Okay, so I have a problem that I can guarantee has been asked plenty of times ,but I searched and searched here and elsewhere and know one's given an in depth explanation on what to do. My problem is: I can record and use effects in the program and everything but when I click the live button to hear the guitar while recording or not, I don't get any playback. How do I fix this?

'Live' is used as a live bus and should not be used during tracking.
If I understand correctly, you have headphones on the 'out' of your soundcard, but cannot hear what is on the 'in' to your soundcard. Essentially, you want to hear what you are playing along with the other tracks during a tracking session. Let me dig into this...I had the same problem. If I remember correctly, it has nothing to do with nTrack...but let me find out for sure.

yes thats exactly the problem. As you said I don't think it has anything to do with n-track, but rather the settings of my soundcard or windows or something. So again to sum up my issue, which I think you understand, is that I just want to hear my playing come back at me live through my speakers for practicing, and headphones for recording...by the way is the best way to lay down a guitar track, playing while listening to your playing through headphones (obviously while recording)? I find it near impossible to lay down a track if all I can hear is the twang from an electric. Thanks so much for the help, and any other contributers are more than welcome to throw in there 2 cents. I have been playing guitar for a very long time but am a complete newbie when it comes to recording.

I have the same problem. My sound card has a checkbox for monitoring, but when I start up n-Track, it doesn't work. It HAS worked with other programs though, so I'm assuming it's a problem with n-Track. I just use the headphone out on my mixer to monitor, because I think there would be too much of a delay if it went through the computer first.
