Using An Amp As A Mixer
I have a Marshall AS100D amp that has four channels. I want to run a few microphones into the amp and then use the DI outputs on the back to run a line into one channel of a digital recorder(possibly the Tascam DP-01FXCD). When I've tried to record the signal coming from the DI outputs with a tape recorder it always sounds horribly distorted no matter what I do. Will I have the same problem when I run it into the digital recorder? Why won't it work with a tape recorder? I'm also planning on using a line from DI outputs to connect my amp to a small PA. Will I have a problem with that too? Any help woud be great. Thanks.

Come on, man. Save the earth and buy a mixer.

i use the 50watt version of that amp as a mixer dude to record with. your version is even more capable so if you don't wanna get a mixer like me, then you may as well use it.

You might try running into the line in instead of mic inputs on your recorder. That might eliminate the overdriving.
