so i found this old keyboard with a midi out
so i thought i could use it as a controller. i plugged it in the midi in on my firepod setup the input in my cubase etc. and when i go to the key editor it registers the keys that i am hitting but i dont know how to record me hitting the keys. becasuse if i select an area and press record and hit keys nothing is registered

Try this --- put Cubase in record with a soft synth in the track that you are attempting to record on. Then press play and execute the desired part on the keyboard. If there is nothing else going on, use the built-in metronome to keep you on time.

Or, alternatively, RTFM.

Not to sound condecending (if I could even spell it!) have you checked the midi cables are connected correctly and that it is configured as the chosen midi in?

yea yea
but since last night it wont even detect the firepod midi in
the cables are fine

and the rest of everything is fine haha

If the key editor is registering your notes (i assume you mean the piano roll shows each individual note being played) then the keyboard is fine. Arm the midi track to record, hit record on the transport bar and play. Hey presto and job done.
