new interface or mic pre?

hey guys, i would really like your help. i've been saving my money and now i have enough to buy the channel strip i've been wanting to get, to go along with my 1212m. the channel strip that i've been wanting to get is the focurite voicemast pro. i have read good reviews about it and i've made up my mind to get it. but i also would like more recording options. that's why i was thinking aobut getting the tascam fw-1082, i would really like to get its older brother, the fw-1884 but that's too much out of my price range at the moment. my recordings sound ok with my mg 12/4 mixer and 1212m that i have and the plugins that came with sonar 4 se. but i still am not satisfied with it.
so, should i get the channel strip or the 1082? if you would like the judge the quality of my recordings, i can post my songs up so you maybe y'all can be the judge of what i should get based on what my recordings sound like. if it helps, the mic i use to record is an at4040.
thanks for your help.
