2 Layla 24's, 1 PCMCIA card, can it be done???

Here's my question, hopefully someone has the answer. I have a LAYLA 24 with both the PCI and laptop cards. I was thinking about purchasing an additional adat convertor to be able to record 16 tracks at once, primarily for recording my band's live shows to a laptop. Since the Layla EXP is impossible to find, can I use a second LAYLA 24's breakout box as an adat convertor only. Meaning, if I use the second break out box's adat out, and go into the adat in on my primary LAYLA, will that work? My goal is to use 2 LAYLA breakout boxes, and only one laptop cardbus slot/interface. I know there are several brands of adat convertors out there, but I'd like to keep it LAYLA. Please reply with whatever info you have on this matter. Thanks.

Won't work. The second Layla's adat i/o isn't active unless the entire box is hooked up to the/a pc via the layla's data connector on the back of the breakout box.

As far as expansion, you don't need that limited-time expander that Echo made ....

We have 3 layla 24's and 2 Layla 3gs roaming around here. As far as analog i/o, several of them are expanded simply by plugging an Alesis ai-3 into any layla adat port. Instant 8 additional 24-bit analog connections besides the laylas' built in 8.

One pc here has three Layla pci cards installed. Sometimes we have 3 Laylas hooked to that pc AND 3 Alesis ai-3.s......which gives 48 balanced or unbalanced analog i/o points from the one pc to the consoles. Works great.

Thanks BRDTS. I know about the Alesis, I guess that is my best option to expand the Layla 24.
