Microphonal History

Hi

I've got to that inevitable microphone question, but I was just wondering if anyone can point me to a good historic archive for mics??

I realise the advice I'm receiving is rather American weighted, and I'm particularly interested in 60s notherthern Britain, just because I'm about up to the home version of that technology and live in Britain, probably would like to nod to my northern roots.

Alternativley who were the masters of the studio? I guess the 30s/40s would be the heyday wouldn't they? When Movie Houses started to get going.

Its difficult finding any "stories" out there, less information more style, or simple tech info about the records I know...

Perhaps a book or site might come from my research? hmm?

Anyway, any clues?

It's free to access; you may have to register your email addy to view it. Not sure if it will be extremely helpful to you. All sorts of valuable info there for me anyway.
