Using A computer as an external effects send?

Hi,
I wanna buy a Tascam DP01 multitrack recorder and was wondering is there a way to hook it up to my computer.

yes it is equipped with an external usb connection on the back, but i want to use the tascam as the host and the computer as the external effect sending to the tascam.

thanks again

Eh - No..

Don't think that's possible...

The DP01 sheet says:
"The DP-01 has a USB 2.0 jack for file backup and transferring mixes to a computer."

Are you trying to use the PC as an outboard effects unit?

Hope this helps...

you could get an external usb/firewire/pci interface for your computer, send the signal in analog, thru a vst effect, then back out analog. Latency would probably be a big issue tho.
