Song Titles and copyright?

I have a song written that has the same title of another song in the same genre. The songs are lyrically different, just the titles are the same. Are there any problems that may arise with this, since I'm an independent musician and probably won't be getting much (if any) radio play at first?

A friend of mine is concerned I may have to pay out some type of royalty, or have difficulties with copyright because of this.

Based on the research I've done, there shouldn't be a problem, since my song isn't a cover of the other song, just the titles are the same. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule.

Copyright does not apply to song titles. You're good to go.

Though there could be the exception of a very long and descriptive title, you've got no reason to worry.
