Hello everyone...

My question(s):
Can you Master with Minidiscs???...Or should the premaster be recorded on D.A.T.?

I noticed that almost everyone on this board isn't using the SONY Minidisk recorders...Anything wrong with these???

Thanks for reading and or responding...

PEACE.

Cool

It wouldn't be a good idea to master to a format that literally slices out some of the signal (via the MDs compression techniques). Far better to master to a solid format (Masterlink, DAT...), THEN dumb-it-down to MD....

I use a Sony MDM-X4-II and personally love it too! Great for a four track. I will master on the puter though. I am thinking of getting rid of the 4 trackie though since Cakewalk has been my baby since I got a nice pro-audio soundcard. The 4track is very nice to start with and then I usually end up dumping the 4 tracks to the puter and add more that way.

I have a Sony JE510 Minidisc recorder and I find it very useful for doing rough mixes and the Track Move function is great for when you're trying to decide what order to put your songs in,but for something you're gonna charge money for,burn a CD.CD recorders aren't that much more expensive than Minidisc machines these days.
