Can I use a Roland TD-10 to trigger a Fostex FD4 to start recroding?
Hello folks,
I've burned through the manuals, and still can't figure out a way to do this, and now I"m turning to you experts! I've recorded some drum patters into the TD-10, and what I want to do is have the TD-10 trigger the FD4 to start recording as soon as I hit play on the TD-10. I have set the time signature on both the TD10 and FD4, and it'd be nice to have them in sync for easy editing. Is this possible? Or is MIDI even set up to do this? Thanks! |

Not 100% sure because I'm not familiar with the gear in question, but generally it should work. If you connect the midi out of your roland to the midi in of the fostex, and set the roland to Master in a sync options menu, and the fostex as slave (in an options menu on the fostex), then the midi clock of the roland should be controlling the fostex. I don't know how many functions will be controlable, but I did this with 2 different roland grooveboxes a couple of weeks ago and the tempo, aswell as the beat and all the transport functions were controllable from the master device.
