Freebie Effects???
Hi, I am currently using CEP 2.0 and was wondering if there were any sites out there that offered free effects (Are these what is considered plugins? )
I am perticularly looking for one that will provide harmony tracks to my single vocal lines......is there anything like that? I guess I would also need to know how to input them into CEP after they've been downloaded?? Thanks in advance!!! Rick |

Best thing you can do is learn the harmony part yourself and sing it.

Ok, thanks!
Do you know if the effects (as a whole) on the CEP 2.0 are considered "good", or at least a good starting base? Thanks, Rick |

They are not bad. They're not as good as say, the Waves bundles, but they are not thousands of dollars either. They are more than adequate to do job though. On the topic of harmony plugins, there are very few freebies that'll work without adding tons of digital artifacts. About the best cheap one I've seen is Clone Ensemble (Shareware, and outdated really).
You would probably get better results by cloning the part you want to add harmonies to (as many clones as you need additional harmony parts), and pitch shift them individually with CEP's own Pitch-Shifter. Then you'd have the flexibilty of panning each one seperately with seperate EQ settings, FX, and you could add slight delay to certain parts. Obviously if you can sing the part, then even better, but if the harmony you want is beyond your vocal range, try to sing the part as close to the desired pitch as possible, which will make your Pitch-Shifted results more natural.

I've added some harmony parts (3rd or 4th higher) on a few backing vocals, just to sound like more backup singers. The effect does pretty good when used like this, I don't think I'd use it on an entire song, maybe on an occasional line or phrase but not much on the main vocal. The little variations of a voice is what makes natural harmonies sound much better.
