us 122 mic pre quality

Just a quick question on the noisefloor/gain/overall quality of the mic pres on the us-122.....so far this looks like the product to beat as far as i'm concerned. Right now it's this or the edirol ua-5. The biggest thing the tascam has going for it though is popularity - in my experience, that's what really matters, because that keeps a product from being left on the side of the road by the manufacturer.

anyway, read mostly good things about it, just nothing about it's preamps

thanks in advance!!

They're good, nothing special but nothing bad.

M-Audio has a couple of new interfaces out. The Fast Track Pro is very similar to the US122, and the FireWire Solo is like a half of a 122.

Very Clean Pre's, but lack a bit of punch for guitar I think. If you are micing the guitar - crank it. If you are DI ing the guitar use an amp first then preamp out to tascam. That works well for me. Over all though I am very happy with my US122, I certainly recommend one.

Though this is an old post and you probably made your decision long ago so I'll just shut up now,
