Yeah,..youre right,..the vocs need alot of work. But,..it sounds like the guitars are out of tune,..badly,..to my ear also.
I found the song and the lyrics uninteresting and kinda boring.
I know that sounds harsh,..but i'm being honest. Thats not saying that this song is no good though,..I'm not an accomplished musician or songwriter,..and I've written many many tunes that i thought were uninteresting.
Keep tryin' and writing,..they all cant be winners.

Take 'er easy,...
Calwood

sounds West Coast. you gotta tell whoever was knocking into the mic to stop it. work on some more lyrics, get the vocal a little bit clearer in some parts. It sounds loose, like it was live with a group and maybe a vocal dub or 2?

Hey man, keep at it. Yes the vox need work (and the guitars are out of tune as well), but your ear will only get better the more you practice.

I think it's great that you're writing songs and working on singing harmonies. We all have to start somewhere.

Was that just a live recording of two people playing and singing?

Record yourself often to work on your pitch and practice singing intervals against an instrument.

For instance, play a C on the guitar, then play a C and an E (major 3rd). Then play the C, but sing the E, etc. Do the same thing with other intervals: 4th (C-F), 5th (C-G), 6th (C-A), etc.

Of course, make sure the guitar is pretty close to being in tune when you do this! (Use an electronic tuner if you need to. They're not perfect, but they're pretty close for general ear-training purposes.)

As for the song, I couldn't understand most of the lyrics, but it sounds like you got some emo influence. Maybe Dashboard Confessional?

Good luck and keep it up.

OK so there is room for work on your vocals, practice and experience are the only ways to get better, keep at it you will get better. A different mic placement might help get around some of the bumps, a couple are very noticeable. To my ears you have a pretty good placement for the guitar(s). A little stronger vocals would be a definate pluss imo. I can't critisize you too much, I still sound pretty rough too http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=783 so keep at it. If we all keep helping each other maybe we will all get it right in time.
