Midi help for the retard

I downloaded the Acid Pro 5 trial, and have about 15 days left but can't seem to figure out how to do any midi stuff. All I'm really only trying to do right now is just create a simple midi piano roll, but how do you choose what midi sounds to select from?

I have the full version of Project 5, and really don't know what this thing with rewire is, but I'm guessing I can use sounds from Project 5 in Acid? Hope someone can clear things up for me and maybe give me some pointers. Any help at all is appreciated, thanks!
