bizzare Midi latency Nuendo
I have had this problem at my home studio and at my project studio. While monitoring and recording midi tracks, there is no latency. However, when I record a track, sometimes the entire midi track will be recorded like a 16th note off, and I have to select all and move the notes a 16th note over. Sometimes it doesn't do this at all until I've been working on the project for a while, and I just restart Nuendo/Reason. Other times it does it no matter what. This happens on an M-Audio USB keyboard but also on a roland board through an Edirol usb midi cable (two different rigs). It can be very frustrating, especially since the monitoring has almost no latency, and i am monitoring through the software. Any ideas?
Thanks, Shane |

Are you having this problem recording midi streams into both Nuendo and Reason separately?
Or just when they're ReWired together? You say the problem comes and goes - is it possible that you have the 'quantize on input' function turned on and sometimes it behaves to your advantage and sometimes not? |

Hmm nope, it is recording every midi note as played. When I play on the keyboard, everything sounds great When I play back, it is just off. What you said makes me wonder if it is a settin somewhere though. It isn't quantizing it though, all my rhythmic mistakes are in place, heh. But the recorded material does seems to be a certain amount off, like an 8th or 16th. VERY strange, and has been doing this to me forever.

u sound like ur knowledgable for this not to be ur problem but anyway: u can get a delay when ur computer is changing midi into whatever sound ur using, so if ur listening to this and layin down another track over it u could be playing a bit after hte midi note has already passed. if ur happy with ur midi track u can export it as a wav file then bring it back in without delay.
anyway sorry if thats not ur problem (which im guessin its not) but hope it helps someone ![]() mick. |
