That's an mbox I've never heard of - an mpc mbox with some synths in it...

Here are links to two good articles on midi basics - part one and part two.

Your MBox has no midi port at all so that's out of the equation for now.

You need to hook your Korg's midi out to one of the MPC's midi ins, then hook one of the MPC's midi outs to the Korg's midi in. That will allow you to sequence with the MPC as the master.

But - and this is very important - you need to turn the 'local on/off' inside the Korg to 'off'. You'll probably find it under the 'utility' or the 'global' menu.

If your multi track has a midi port, post again and we'll figure out how to work that in...

Your m-box has no midi in, out or thru. It will not be any use in a midi setup. It doesn't have midi capabilities. Of any kind. At all. Never has and never will.

Now that we've got that out of the way, plug the midi out of the Korg into the Edirol interface, then bring up Reason Adapted. You will need to have the m-box hooked up to the system, but only for it's audio outputs.

Did you read the articles I linked you to? If not, do so. They're well written and aimed specifically at interested beginners like you.

And are you on Ritalin?

Not that i know of.So what your telling me is the m-box has nothing to do with my setup .as far as making beats. Thats foul cause ed at chuck levins set my system up knowing i wanted it for midi capable plugins..So let me ask you this should i sell it for soundfordge or a better editing system?

Digidesign is going thru big changes right now as far as allowing other companies to make hardware that works with protools LE. You would have to get rid of both the Mbox and PT because without the MAudio version of protools you need the mbox as an input and an output. So unless you want to make some big changes too, you're what's commonly referred to as SOL, s.a.p.! And you probably wouldn't get much for it anyway.

IMHO, you should stick with what you've got now which is a good keyboard and a first-class sequencer/sampling drum machine. Read the manuals and get them working together. Records have been made with a whole lot less, and gear lust in and of itself doesn't make a hit record - or even a slammin beat.

There's a lot of them out there.

Knowledge is more important than gear IMHO. You've gotta have the minimum specs to get the job done, but you've already got all that! Now is the time to work it - but keep reading Scratch and going to Washington Music Center too just to keep up...
