clicks during recording

Hi, I recently got a new Tascam us-122 soundcard. It seems to be giving ACID a problem of some sort. I have acid 5.0. I tried recording my friend play bass over some beats I had created. It starts off fine then after about 20 measures I hear clicks and static like noises on and off. When I would record just one pre-recorded song from another sequencer into ACID it seemed to work fine. I dont know if it is because this particular song has more tracks already recorded. I dont think my computer is too slow.
my specs are 2.60 ghz, 40 gb left of a 80 gb harddrive(plus ive added a 160 gb harddrive to my computer) , 768 RAM. anyone have any ideas of what it could be? thank you
jacob

Your copy of ACID isn't a demo is it? If not, then I would make sure that it's recognizing your new soundcard, and that all the proper settings are enabled... Other than that, I am clueless.

I hope someone else can give you more help. I just felt compelled to post since no one else had. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

Do you have a lot of apps running in the background? This causes problems when you are working in recording software.

Also, recording in higher bandwidths can do this. I tried recording in 96/24 once and I had all kinds of problems. I stick with 44.1/16 bit now...
