Need Help!

I have a yamaha s80 keyboard,2 mics, Cakewalk home studio and a tascam us 122.The keyboard is run into the line in of the tascam. After I record my son playing and singing with cakewalk and play it back it sounds very tinny and cheap.Nothing like the what I hear from this board. My question is this .Is cakewalk what I need to be using or do I need some other type software? Is there something else I need to get? Some kind of hardware that I am not aware of.?I know I have good equipment but I cant seem to put this together to make it sound at least have way decent?
