I know nothing about this kind of music, but I like the raw feeling. I find that a lot of the music in this genre has way to much going on... I mean it's about the voice not the backgrounds right? The beat is simple but catchy and really helps set a good backing for your vocals. The overdubs will help, but I definatly think you have something great going right now, and I love the phone theme. Keep it up.

Ben

Vocals already have multiple takes right? two running for most of the song and a lot at the end?

You seem to have some good vocal sounds recorded. Sound quality is good.
Timing seems pretty tight.

As for the prolific subject matter of the rap......well I just won't make any comments on that one......
Hey, to each his own

Good sound, I would expect alot more low end in the bass drum but I don't know anything about hip-hop so don't listen to me. Just seems kind of thin with no bottom end in the mix at all.

I didn't mean to seem to be making fun of your rap....I just thought it was a joking sort of subject matter anyways.....

I do appreciate the fact that you are posting hip hop music and it is not about cappin' people!

naw i dont rap about capping people i rap about everyday things....but i did drop bass alot on beat forgot to put it up again. but i am mixing on headphone monitiors and i dont have monitors yet...........but i wanted to know more so the quality. how it sounds like is there too much reverb? or any suggestions that might give me a better sound. i do aim for my voice to project loud and clear over beat. so lots of time it my sound like vocals r overly loud.

oh yeah vocals do have multiple takes and there was some overdubbs on chours track.

the overdub track seems to be running the whole time or almost the whole time rather than just to accent some of the words that feel right, like "ID you", "phone of all phone's", "Just try my home", "and know who I'm talking to", ect. I don't listen to much rap, but from what I here the vocals feel a lot closer to this and less roomy, a lot of the roomy feeling is from the constant double tracks from the vocals which gives it that slight chorus effect. How did you record this?

Some people will say that copy and paisting and then adding something like delay or echo to the second track, or simply moving it a little bit, will get the job done. But I have never had enough luck with that. It always sounds to fake or computer generated. Doubling over is what you should do.

The other approach would be to not overdub the whole thing and just do it over certain words that sound like they pop out, or need it. Listen to the music you want it to sound like and see what they do. Either way you do it, it is just a style. Be free to roam.
