How to Record??????
We just got a FOSTEX MR8 8 track recorder....
What are the proper steps to record a 4 piece band? We have all the necessary equipment, i just am confused how to to it. PLEASE HELP!!!!! |

The MR8 can record two tracks at a time. With a 4 piece band, this means either combining the sounds via a mixer, or doing separate takes for each instrument.

Another way to do it is one track at a time (or two). That way you can record the whole band on their own tracks.
If you are not comfortable doing it that way (many bands want to capture that jam vibe and prefer to record the entire band at once), then go with what Ed said: you will need a mixer.

The in-between option is to first record just the music parts, using a mixer. Then go a second round and do vocals.
