Question Seeking Home Basement Vocal Booth Design Assistance

Greetings.
Would anyone be able to give me some tips on Home Basement Vocal Booth Design? I can supply pics, dimensions, and any other info that may help. My home is 98 years old I am pretty much starting with framed-out(2"X6") studs over irregular concrete block "old school" mortared walls and a bare floor joist ceiling. I am wondering should I insulate behind the drywall and/or ceiling, if so what would be the best type of material for this? What is the best thickness for the drywall? I am working with roughly a six foot X 8 foot area of space for the booth with a ceiling height of 7 feet 6 inches. Any ideas would be really cool. Thanks

Review www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html

then, do you need a booth to keep other sounds in the house from showing up in the vox track, or to create a dead space?

Vocal Booth Design

I will be recording musical instruments, guitar syths, bass drums etc, and vocals so I suppose both. There will be no windows to deal with other than in the control room.

Well, you can make one corner of your room very dead and use it for vox with the singer singing toward the corner. You might also think about having one large space to record in, foregoing a seperate control room. It'll save you some bux, and the bigger the room, the better.

How big is the entire room? You mentioned the booth being 6 x 8 which would yield a roomy vocal booth, but it may be tight for other purposes.

The room is roughly 28x8 feet. I have to work around one column and a gas meter that is located on the north wall which would land at the nor-east corner of the booth.
