MOTIF+ProTools=latency

does anyone have any insight into why i am getting horrible latency when i plug a Motif into my protools digi002r? the signal comes in and gets recorded but the timing is pretty erratic. and it doesnt sound like it did in the motif. we were trying to get the drums to come in track by track (kick,snare,hat) but it just sounded bad, we got protools to trigger the sequencer in the motif but just didnt sound right.......help please!!
thanks

turn your hardware buffers down.
Setups-->Hardware
change it to around 256 or lower.

Which sequencer is the master. If you are using the MOTIF's sequencer as the master there may be a Sync conflict with Pro Tools. Be sure Pro Tools is fully setup to be the slave to your MOTIF's clock, or better yet transfer the sequencer data into ProTools as MIDI tracks, and use ProTools sequencer to trigger the MOTIF sounds (Be sure you keep the MOTIF from recieving external clock signals, or else ProTools may start the MOTIF sequencer too, causing redundant information which will really bottle-neck your whole system, which is what I was referring to just a moment ago).
