Anyone close to Montebello, CA and willing to help me out ?

Hi,

Here's the deal: I need several capstan belts for my TASCAMs. I called TEAC Canada in Mississauga, Ontario but they only take Visa (I have Mastercard) or Money Order. I once ordered a manual from them and with the sending of the money order, it took several weeks in order for me to get the item. Problem is that I need the belts asap! I called TASCAM USA in Montebello but they said they don't ship to Canada .... Thus my question to someone on this board who lives near the Montebello location: Would it be possible for you to pick these items up from TASCAM, I'd then send you a PayPal payment and you could then just pop these in a nice padded envelope and forword it on to me ? Can't hurt to ask, I guess.

The way they hand out credit cards like candy these days, would it not be easier all around to just apply for a Visa card?

I am guessing that would also take time. Maybe a paypal visa would be quick. I would also ask if they can accept a bank wire transfer?

They don't.

TEAC Canada is a distributor that generally doesn't deal directly with the public. They have a network of authorized dealers and service centers who applied for credit via extensive credit application and only they get the privilege of 30 day terms. Virtually all electronic distributors in North America work this way.

Daniel, if your credit is decent, I'm sure the Royal Bank or TD or CIBC can have a card in your hand in 3 - 5 business days.

Well, it seems that TEAC CANADA does NOT have stock of these and it would take 2 weeks for them to order it in from the USA location + the time it would take me to order it via MO or even worse through a dealer .... I most likely would be looking at a month ...

I just don't want to get into this credit card thing 'cause I've had too many already (which I paid off and closed) and decided on 1 with a smaller credit line. Wanna simplify my life . Point is that I just don't want to apply for a Visa just to get a couple of belts ...

Perhaps I could ask one of you guys to order one in and the forward it on to me ?

I think paypal does a checkcard visa debit sort of thing. if I was near there I would help u out.

If you have a checking account most banks offer a VISA debit card for no extra charge. It generally takes about 5-7 days to get it in the mail.
