New E-MU Xboard 49 - How is master vol. fader supposed to work?
Hi,
I just got a new E-MU Xboard 49 USB MIDI controller, and while the the master volume fader works internally to select patches, it doesn't do anything in any soft synth I try it in. Isn't it supposed to control the master volume of the soft synth, or do I have the wrong idea here? |

Try assigning CC 7 to the master volume fader/pot of the soft synth. If the synth in question was made by a company with even a modicum of midi savvy there should be a 'midi learn' feature included.

Actually, I should've RTFWebsite; it's a glitch in the firmware and I'm downloading the update as I speak.

Hmm... still, it's not working as I expected. The fader now actually sends SysEx messages, but nothing responds to them live, although Sonar records them, and when played back it is interpreted as master volume. However, when playing live, the master volume control does nothing.

SysEx messages can contain controllers too. As a workaround, can you set one of the knobs to CC 7 and control the soft synth master volume that way?
Sonar must controller mapping, and if you'd rather not designate one of the knobs to master volume you could use the mod wheel which sends CC 1. |
