Cheap, decent sounding, easy to use soft synth??
All I want is a program that will work with N-track with some decent piano, and string sounds, with ease of use for someone that is NOT an expert, and I don't want to break the bank. I just want to record a midi track to my recording software from my cheap ass Casio midi keyboard, and use the sounds from the soft synth without it being rocket science or expensive. Any suggestions?

Yup. "SFZ" from rgcaudio.com is free.
Use it with some free soundfonts from www.hammersound.net for great sounds. The very large GeneralMidi sets "Unison" and "Cadenza" are what I use all the time for GM playback. |

Here's another good website that has some decent free soundfonts for drums, piano, and a few other instruments that you can use with a sample player. -Jamie
