Licketysplit is on a distinguished road
Noway, to me they're just the standard heads that give great results and let the drum sing out.

Remo heads are to drums...what Ernie Ball strings are to guitar. I play both so I have some idea of what I'm trying to say. Outdated, definately not, they have been like a standard for years and will likely continue to keep that position although Evans heads are giving them some pretty stiff competition.

Remo are really nice, but I have to say, I prefer Evans.

ambassadors are not outdated. they're pretty much the standard, but i can't blame people for wanting to try something different.

i have never used evans as batter heads, but i recently put evans on the bottoms of all my toms and they sound better than ever (the batter heads are currently remo fiberskyns on one kit, and remo coated ambassador and emperor on the other kit). next time i buy batter heads i'll probably go with evans and see how i like them.
