Do I need preamps?

Im finally getting around to ordering equiptment and I have settled on:
Soundcraft spirit E12 mixer
Echo AudioFire 12 firewire interface.

I will be using tracktion as soft synths and using the interface's outputs for mixdown and I was wondering if I required preamps between the interface and the mixer. I didnt think so since the mixer has them but I thought that I'd better double check.

Not sure what the pre's are like on the soundcraft, but when I started I just used the pre's on a small behringer mixer. You will probably think about upgrading the pre's when you can afford nice mic's etc.

Decent starter pre's can be had at good prices, though.

Thanks - thats what I thought. Also, is it possible to use 2 of the imputs simultanously to record the final mix with the same interface?
