M-Audio Prokeys 88, anyone tried it yet ?

Anyone tried the prokeys 88 by m-Audio yet ? how is the action ? how are the sound samples (not just the piano) compared to other digital pianos like the Yamaha P-series.

I like my P90 for the action and the piano, but now that i need decent strings, organs and rhodes, i'm disapointed in it. I don't want to always resort to a sound module when I would be fine with onboard sounds... but the rhodes espcially is to dry for me... i don't know how to describe it.

Francis.

Havn't played it, but its supposed to sound amazing. Unfortunatly it has the same keyboard as the keystation 88 which sucks.

i just can't stand the "weighted" action. I mean for the price I think its spectacular. but compared to other weighted keyboards the action is just not good, it feels like the keys want to unnaturally spring back up. (i'm talking about the $400 or 500 dollar keystation with all the faders, not the cheap 88es)

How is the action? Better/worse than, say, a Yamaha P60? I'm curious.

well i just tried it, here is my review:

The action is as suspected, very similar to the keystation pro 88. It has a strange feel, when you try and preess down lightly the keys give a little jerk. consequently the velocity feels wrong. When you are trying to play light and soft sometimes you can easily it a key to hard and BONK! But if you play loud and fast the action is fine.

Sound-wise i spent pretty much all my time with the piano (i don't care so much about the other sounds, but I'll try them out more tomorrow when i get time and let you know my full review... on quick listen they were fine). That said the piano is very very bright. very bright. Kinda like my qs6.2, which i HATE. I was very disappointed. It would cut through the mix in a live setting, but it doesn't soudn that great.

I'll post more when i spend more time with it...
