can anyone tell me what the hell side band compression is and what its used for???????????

try the search function.

here's a short explination
take a sheet of paper, tear it in half
paint half of it, tape it back together

kinda (sorta) like that

also search multiband compression

I think it's more like a carney pulling the lever on the ferris wheel. Yeah, maybe you'd better try the search.

a side band is the band you keep your good songs for, cuz you secretely hold grudges against your main band. sort of like your girlfriend-on-the-side.

I think what you want is a sidechain?
