Analog Sequencers

I've been looking into these and wonder if anyone has some experiences with any of these three pieces. I wanna use this with a Minomoog Voyager.

The Frostwave looks magnitudes of order less complicated than the Doepfers, but the features on the Regalwerk looks pretty cool if they can be figured out.

what are the advantages of Analog over digital in a sampler?

The Mellotron was THE original analog sampler

The Doepfer's and the Frostwave are not samplers, but analog SEQUENCERS.

And sorry Mr C., but I'm just inches too young to have had any contact with anything but midi sequencing. Even though I could use a little CV/gate tightness in my music...

I posted this question at the Moog BBS and got a tip on this little beauty here.

Not quite as complex as the Doepfers but a substantial upgrade over the Frostwave.

The advantage as I see it of analog sequencing is that it's real-time tweakable. I can dial it all I want until I get what I want while I listen to it in real-time.

Try that in software.

Plus, with CV signals and gates I can control parameters of multiple instruments or functions in real-time. The plan is to use it to program drums and melody patterns.

Both look like nice units. I'm sure you can't go wrong with the Doepfer, and the Frostwave sure does look quite simple. If you have any DIY inclinations check this site

Some nice schematics and a really nice free schematic editor.

A guy at Analog Solutions turned me on to Ableton Live5. I've been messing around with the demo this afternoon.

Maybe something like that with a MIDI > CV box might do the trick.

I'm gonna keep thrashing around with it.
