And more bias questions...

Ok, let me get this straight:

I see the specs in the manual for the Technics RS-1500US say that the machine is calibrated to Scotch 207 (3m 207) at 2-2 (EQ and bias switches on the front).
Its record level calibration is 185 nWb/m, and the bias is at 120 khz.

Now, I've seen on this forum people use this same tape, Scotch 207, for their Tascam machines when in fact these machines, if I'm not mistakened, generally suggest the Ampex 456 or 457, even though it is a 250 nWb/m machine for some reasons.

From brochures I have the Tascam machines like the TSR-8, ATR-60 etc... have a 145 khz bias, which is higher than the Technics machine, and some people still use the 207 tape for the Tascam.

Was the frequency of the bias on the Tascam machines changed (lowered) to use the 207?
If not then, what happens to the sound when you use a higher bias frequency?
More compression?
Aren't the high frequencies supposed to saturate with higher bias?
Or is it just the bottom that accentuates?
What does higher bias do to the tape and sound?

The searches I did in Google or in this forum didn't answer these questions...
