Does anyone have any experience with UFIP cymbals? Lately I've been hearing lots of praise for them... Whats their best series? How expensive are they? I think I saw a few in my drum teacher's room, so I'm gonna try em out on thursday... ionno, I've heard they are better than the big three... I wanna see if they can really beat Paiste (or those old zildjians my music teacher has).

They're not bad. I had a friend who was an endorser back in the 80's, and he had a 22" Ride that was killer sounding, but I didn't really care the crashes he was using. they were 16" cymbals, and fairly thick...so to me they were kind of "Klangy".

Their rides are sweet!

I've also heard their splashes pitch bend to hit a spectific note.
I mean I've heard it personally, i hit it and listened. not i heard it from someone.

One of my best friends was a rep for DW, then moved over to Ufip. Ufip makes the best sounding cymbals I have ever heard. He gave me a 10" Class Series splash. It is truely awesome. All the cymbals on his kit are Ufip. His ride cuts through amazingly.

Ufip are veeeeery expensive. They are made in Italy. They are "roto-cast" cymbals, which is an expensive process. The cymbals is actually cast in its actual shape is a spinning mold instead of being cast into ingots and then rolled and pressed into shape or stamped from sheet metal. Afterwards they are hammered and lathed.

Actually, now thatI think about it - I had a UFIP I think.
It was called a "Lazer" series back in the 80's. They also made...no never mind....that was a Meinl
