DMP3 digital out?

The MAudio website for the DMP3 has an image showing "connectivity". It shows a "digital audio" connection to a "digital recorder". This preamp doesn't have a digital out though, does it???

I'm looking for a preamp for generic purposes. I've got a Sony ECM MS907 stereo mic (with a stereo minijack connector) that I've been using with my minidisc recorder for sampling and field recording, and I just inherited a CAD E100 condenser which I think is supposed to be fairly clean. Any thoughts on why I shouldn't pick up the DMP3? I'd like to utilize the stereo mic since the preamps in the MD recorder are crap (or the mic itself is crap, or both) since it's far too easy to overload and the combo is a bit noisy so I can't lower gain too well.

The alternative I'm thinking about is the VTB1 which has gotten favorable reviews. Though it's not stereo, it looks like it's cheap enough to get 2. I'm not looking to record in a "gold channel" way. As long as the signal is relatively clean with low noise (pretty crucial) and there's a respectable amount of headroom I'd be happy. I'd prefer to not have to get an outboard compressor. Again, this is for sample recording, from crickets at night (with a long extension cord obviously) to pots and pans in the bathroom. I'd still probably record to the line in on the minidisc, or straight into my Delta 66.

I'd appreciate any thoughts, and my budget is as low as possible. I really prefer to buy new.

First of all the DMP3 is a two channel pre, not stereo. And you are correct, it does not have a digital output.

I can tell you that I like the VTB-1. It's clean, and has worked well for me on vox. The DMP3 is smashing as well though (no digital out) - if you need the two channels. I think the VTB-1 is going for around $100, so two of those would be a bit more than the DMP3, but you can't go wrong with either.

i figured it was too good to be true. it would have been nice to go digital straight from the preamp into the MD. i imagine i'll still probably go with it though. it shouldn't be too hard to split the stereo minijack into two 1/4" lines.
