Opinions Wanted

Ok we're talking WinXP w/ 933Mhz P-III 512m Ram/ P4PA-UL Board with a 32MB e-geForge2 MX400 Graphics Card storing data on a 80g HD and using a 4g HD for system boot and Cubase SX Program.

I'm experiencing serious problems right now. With my projects containing audio, I'm getting serious flutter and hesitation during record & playback.

So I'm thinking the processor is weak and I need more. But as I search through the post, many others are running on 128m Ram with less than a 933Mhz Processor and I don't read these types of problems. I absolutely don't want to go out and buy anything to upgrade until I'm certain what the problem is.

I, basically record in 32bit Float ... don't know if I left anything out but I need some thoughts on what might be happening.

Anybody Please

Thanks Gang

Update

Well, I appreciate that noone at least posted replies that were insulting given that I really didn't wish to waste time sorting through bs and hopefully getting an answer.

As it turns out, the one important piece of hardware that I failed to mention in my original post was my soundcard. So, I did a google search for latency issue, given that even though I read the manual regarding this, I really didn't grasp the concept that well. As it turns out, I found a site that broke it down in terms that i could understand. Which led me to check my settings on my soundcard against what my Project Setup settings were. Whalla ... I found that I was recording at 32bit Float but my card settings were at 48.100 sample rate. So I re-adjusted some settings on the card and mapped them to what my preferences were and it appears I have solved my issue.

Way to go .... good to hear you've sorted yourself out.
Providing your soundcard brand and drivers used can, sometimes, be a vital bit of info needed in diagnosing issues.
By the sound of your issue, I would have suspected buffer settings to be the culprit.

Thanks .. I'm using an M-Audio Delta- 66 card 4/ins 4/outs w/breakout box

secured to a PCI slot. Not sure if it's the best in town but it's what I bought when I was putting this workstation together. If anybody has thoughts on a better sound card please let me know ...

If it works for you then great. I have used Delta cards for several years now and have had no problems, or regrets.
