confuse the customer ?

How confusing is it for cd buying market to see:

I wanted to use the "style" of a mixtape cd as a cover. That is, 80% of the cover is the ""cd cover artwork" image, and the last 20% of the cover is the tracklisting with contact info at the bottom

i wanted to use this style because it is cost effective, getting everythign on the front cover (from the few contacts i have made)

but i had one person tell me they would be confused to see this type of cd cover on a cd -- if the artist's product was not really a "mixtape"

am i being too "uppity" for thinkin that's just down riite bullshi-t?

XerXes is on a distinguished road
Thumbs up

you can design your cover however you like. i don't see how it would confuse anybody. depending on how it's designed, maybe at first glance it could look like a mixCD - but as long as your bandname and album name are obvious, i don't see how they could be confused.

the band The Melvins, for the last several years, have been releasing all of their cd's with the cd's artwork "reversed" - on the front cover is the tracklisting, barcode, credits, etc. - and on the back traycard is just a picture, or what you would call the "cover" on a normal cd.

I think you might be degrading your product a little bit, if it's full album, treat it like one! Your full album is propably a whole nother effort than a "made between things" mixtape...right? So I think you might not want to drown your product in other peoples "regular mixtape things".

Btw that reversed-cover shit is dope
