Somebody please alleviate my symptoms!

I might be an idiot, so bear with me,

I just recently purchased a M-Audio Mobilepre USB Interface. I hooked it up to my laptop, installedn the latest driver and it all seems to work.

I use Ableton Live four as my software, and i use the M-Audio Box to record drums (drum machine), bass, and guitars,

However, when i am monitoring AND recording, It only records on one Side. Example:

If I have my drum machine plugged into Ch.1, i arm the clip in ableton, and then I select record, and play in ableton, THEN i hit play on the drum machine, However, I only hear audio out of the left speaker in my head phones, naturally i thought it was just because a lot of times you only monitor out of one speaker, but when i played back the recording, it still only plays out of the left speaker.

Now if I do the same thing, but plug it into Ch.2, it only plays/records to the right,

Why is it doing this, How do i correct it?

Are you running Live and the M-Audio Moble Pre on a Mac laptop? If so, have you dug down as far as System Preferences>Other>M-Audio? Or looked at the setup under System Preferences>Sound? You also might look at HD>Applications>Utilities>AudioMidi Setup. I'm guessing something is not set right in one of these places and it should look pretty obvious once you look under the hood.

If you're not on a Mac, well, nevermind.
