Fruity Loops Demo
I got this yesterday, and can't get my JV1010 to respond to it.
I'm getting MIDI through my Midisport2x2, but nothing seems to pass through to the Roland. So last night I was using the audio to audition drums. The snares sound like a screendoor slamming, and there wasn't a single kick drum that was useable at all. Same with all the toms. EVERYTHING distorted! I checked gain levels and they seem okay, but the sounds out of this are awful. Anyway, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I gotta say I'd be pissed as hell if I paid $150 for this. |

Check to see which midi channel you're sending the info on, then go into the Roland sys info settings to see which channel it's set to receive midi on.
My Roland XV5050 defaults to receiving MIDI on channel one. |

Maybe you've got some kind of distortion as a master effect. Try opening up a new song and programming a simple drum beat with no effects... I'm not sure what you mean by 'can't get my JV1010 to respond to it'. If you're expecting FL to be configured to play the drum kit from your JV you'll need to do a little setup work. First, under the Options menu you'll find an 'enable midi output' option. Check this. Then go to the Channels menu and the first item will be 'add one'. This will bring up a list - choose 'midi out'. You'll want to set the channel to 10, then use the keyboard to choose a sound. If you want to keep your sounds on separate channels (kick, snare, etc.) just create more midi outs and rename them. |
