I wish. I need to get out of Bill Gates' clutches as soon as possible.
Of course that would mean that I would have to give up all those free VST soft synths I've spent years accumulating... |

http://www.google.com/search?q=rosegarden+vst That finds http://www.answers.com/topic/rosegarden which states (among other things): "DSSI synth and audio effects plugin support, including Windows VST effects and instrument support via dssi-vst" DSSI-VST wrapper plugin lets you run Windows VSTs in DSSI-enabled apps (like RoseGarden) using wine. Screenshot of RoseGarden using the Cheeze Machine VST plugin: http://dssi.sourceforge.net/plong.png I agree that this is a "some assembly required" kind of setup, but hey - it works! Download the DSSI-VST wrapper from here: http://dssi.sourceforge.net

I haven't tried the VSTi bridging yet, but thanks to some of those links I finally discovered how to get it to remember the MIDI bank assignments for my synthesizers. Now I'll have to try and write a cakewalk INS -> RGD converter.
The big question for me though, which I have not yet found an answer to is 'can it lock to an SMPTE source'? If I can't lock it against my tape machine, it's not going to be much use to me yet ![]() |
