Cool

I've been reading some of the previous threads from Aug. I read the one about how the Event PS5's are. Someone said that he/she should also look at the Alesis M1's. I am currently looking at buying a pair of Event PS-5's. How do they compare with the Alesis M1's? Which are better for the money?

Forget the Alesis - go for the Events.... (to find out more - just do a search on this BBS for "monitors" - there's tons of threads)

I would get the PS6's over the PS5's. I compared them on two different occasions and felt that you get a better, more accurate bass response and a fuller sound at a lower volume on the PS6's. So when you are mixing for long periods of time you won't be tempted to turn up the volume and fatigue your ears as fast.

PS6's are great. Nice clarity and pretty accurate as far as what you mix on them generally sounds great on other speakers.

I picked up a pair of them for about $550 from GC a few months ago, I a/b'd them against the M1 and there was no comparison, PS6 was much better.

Lightbulb PS5

I have a pair of Ps-5s and they produce great audio reproduction... the only problem I had was one side had a scratchy pot.

Or you can go with the alesis M2 monitors which compete favorably with the event 20/20s and right now only cost $399 on marsmusic.com

Check out the Event Tria as well. They may be nearing the end of their production. I have seen them for $499US in MF. Plenty of power, nice sweet spot, too.
