frozen interface/no graphic animation

i'm having a weird problem. i just got SX 3.0 for my mac. every now and then when i open up a session and hit play, the audio will start to go, but the graphics will be frozen. meaning, the channel levels won't move, the bar in the project window doesn't move, and the clock doesn't move. strangely though, when i hold down my mouse button (say i'm dragging a window or something) then everything starts up again but when i release the mouse button, the graphic animation stops again. this is usually fixed by restarting the program, but i really want to avoid this in the future. is it a mouse problem? what do you think is causing it?

Is your mouse and keyboard USB? I have seen this problem in Logic with USB keyboards. Just a thought.
