Expression pedal (combo organ) recommendations?

Hi all,
We're about to pull the trigger on a Roland VK-8 organ and also need to order an expression pedal. Any recommendations which to buy? I see that Roland makes the EV5 for about 70 US and the EV7 for 200 US, but there are other options out there like M-audio and Hammond/Suzuki.

Thanks all,

JD

I use the EV5 myself for my nord electro 2 organ and quite like it.. i got my pedal second hand and it's worth every penny.

expression pedal

I have a Roland VK-7 (B3 emulator) myself and am curious: what does an expression pedal actually do to the sound? I might get one myself if it's worth it.

it sends a midi signal to the keyboard you're playing.. it could be volume control, a wah pedal.. anything really.. it depends on the board.

edit:

or, if you meant "what does expression do on a b3?" then the answer is that it's a "Swell pedal".. it does control the volume to a degree but it doesn't go all the way down to no-volume; if you want to dial in a bit of extra grit or something for a solo it's helpful to have. also, you can use the pedal to rock to the beat giving it a really cool, distinctive, sound.
