Turbo-Newbie Getting Started on Nuendo

I am having trouble getting Nuendo to see my new M-Audio Ozone midi controller. I'm a very new newbie so any help from a Nuendo or Cubase expert would be greatly appreciated. I have had the software/hardware for a while but only recently have had the time to see if I can get as much as a chirp out of the system. I'm running it on a 3.1 ghz PC WIN-XP Pro and using an EMI 6/2 audio interface. I've been noodling around in device setup but manuals and software preferences are both very confusing.

I thought the point of the forum was to be able to get help from fellow members / users? I've been on Steinberg's site but dodn't find much there. Yes - I could call them, but I was hoping that other users in this forum would be willing to offer advice in a much more interactive format. No fun being a newbie!!

Cool

It just struck me as odd that you have a 200 dollar interface and a $800-$2800 dollar application...depending on which Nuendo version(s) you have.

The Nuendo program I got from a TV Advertising soundtrack company when it went out of business. They sold/auctioned off a bunch of hardware and software. I had a friend that worked there that told me if I was looking for good software for music production (which I was) I should check it out. Got the program for way less than street price but it's fully working and legal. I already had the EMI and I just recently bought the Ozone - I'm trying to do it all on a tight budget. I know the EMI 2/6 is small potatoes for Nuendo but maybe I can upgrade in a while..

Well if you did pay for it you got a dongle. Just reg. your dongle # at the steinberg nuendo forum and ask a quest. you will get help.
Check the manual under midi controll. The pdf manual is on the install disk.

Wow some of you guys have a way of running people away from this board! you guys need to quit assuming that some one has stolen the software!!!!!

You could be more considerate and ask if they have a dongle for the software and then if they say they dont then let them have it!

It's totally understandable. I can see the case for a little caution under the circumstances. I imagine my case is similar to someone who bought software on Ebay for example.

We have had a spate of users coming in here JUST to try to get help using their pirated software.

So, when a user either asks a trivial qwuestion that could be answered in less time by reading a manual than it would for them to type it in here, or in this case where the have a $200 sound card and a $1000 software package that is overkill for the application..... well.... it does set off some flags.

I can totally see that - I was just lucky to get the deal on the software. I'd seen it used in their studio months ago and was amazed by it. I don't want to spend a boatload of money on a new A/I till I get some mileage with the software. At that point I'll be looking for a suitable reccommendation from the folks here in the forum (hopefully)
