828 mkii MIDI question

Hello.
I am trying to
a) sync Vegas and Reason through my MOTU. I want Vegas to be the master and once that is working...
b) add my triton to that setup

I have enabled sync in both vegas and reason (bus and transport buttons)
Does the MOTU send MIDI via firewire in/out etcetera automatically? Do I have to configure something in the MOTU?

I used to have my triton and dps16 talking to each other with no problem. I understand the concept of MIDI but I am obviously missing something here.

I know that the triton will jack in via MIDI cable but I'm trying to get vegas and reason to talk first...

Thanks is advance!

Reason can sync to some audio/midi applications like Cubase, Tracktion, etc by using a protocol called 'ReWire'. Vegas 6.0 does not support ReWire. You'll need to figure out some kind of workaround or just compose in Reason, render the piece to a .wav file and import it into Vegas...

So you're saying that Reason's transport and location (midi clock/midi timecode) can only be controlled via rewire?

If you want to run two applications at the same time on one computer, then the answer is yes. If you want to run Reason alone that's when the midi clock and midi timecode options come into play.

So Then it would be more practical to just control reason transport from the triton via cable through the MOTU to hear everything and then get the tracks into vegas separately, correct?

To actually record, I will probably just export/record from Reason and then record from the triton, but I will want to hear how everything is coming together first.

If I can get my dps 16 back up and running it will solve the problem because I can use it as a mixer and MIDI master, but until I do…

Thanks for the help!
