pops and clicks in cubase sx

Hi
I'm wondering how you get rid of the clicks or pops between objects and/or events when youre doing things like cutting and pasting or repeating them. I cant seem to find anything on it in the manual. Often I copy and event and paste it somewhere else, and when I put it there in the midst of some already existing sound a little pop is heard. I know there must be a specific means to get rid of such a pop, there even was in the relatively less advanced program cool edit pro. Any info appreciated. If you could even direct me to where it is in the manual that'd be cool.

Thanks a lot,
Will

Be sure "Snap To Zero Crossings" is active before making any cuts, copies, or pastes. If not you will get snaps and pops every time.

If you are trying to paste the event OVER an existing event on the same track, you can use and edit crossfades accordingly.

I'm replying a little late but thanks for the replies. exactly how do I employ crossfades? also I dont really see how snapping to zero crossing will do much. it isnt an issue of where it is on the timeline, its an issue of the line et the edge of an event being read by the computer. Prob noone will read this reply but what the hell.

Thanks,

Will

Snapping to zero crossing helps because when you make your cut it will snap and cut at a point where the waveform crosses the 0db mark which equals no pop or click when looping.

Atterion gave you a GREAT answer...

related issue

I'm using Cubase LE on my Powerbook, and I'm getting clicks and pops too, but only when I use rewire/reason with it. They both run fine on their own, but they click and pop when ran together. I upped the buffer size in reason, but I can't figure out how to do it in Cubase. Any suggestions?

If you're asking me, I'm just using Mac's Core Audio Driver, of which I have the latest version. I'm using the Presonus Firepod as my audio interface as well, if it matters at all.

Yeah how do you adjust the buffering levels in Cubase? I heard if you lower it it has less chance of going out of sync like mine constantly is!

OPTIONS -> AUDIO SETUP -> SYSTEM...
You can change alot of stuff from in there. Actually pretty much everything to do with I/O performance of your set up.

It's not called options it's called something else... device setup or something... can't remember off hand... it's the last item on one of the menus...

Then you need to go to VST multitrack or something... can't remember that either!.. and then you hit a button called control panel or something like that... this will open a window to get to the controls for you soundcard... you can change the buffer size in there...

I know that probably doesn't help you... maybe someone else will step in... I'll have a look later when I get to a pc with cubase on it...

All the basic setup stuff is covered in the Getting Started guide that comes with Cubase. If I remember right, it's near the beginning of the guide (but I'm not using Cubase anymore).

The guides and manuals are all provided in PDF format under the Help menu. (Which is much more useful than programs that keep manuals on CD or only in book form.)
